COREY - TESTIMONIAL
Well, I suppose it is time to write my bio for the site as it has been a long time coming. The best place to start is to take you way back about 2 years ago this April. I was currently working for Purolator Courier and weighing in at a not so fit 242 pounds. I had been hurt at work and sent to Physio to have my back worked on when I met Lyris. I had heard quite a few things about her and so I specifically asked to meet with her regarding my “rehabilitation”. When I first met with Lyris she had asked me what my goals/plans were for getting in shape and living a healthier lifestyle. By this time I was at my breaking point. I have (had) been quite athletic and the whole “weight” issue was really starting to get to me. I have played sports my entire life but always had this thought in the back of my head that I was out of shape. No matter how many different sports I played, or physical activity I did, I was not gaining any ground on the fat burning side of things. I had tried to work out, lift weights and build muscle, but it never seemed to make much of a difference. I told Lyris, in very plain English, I want a beach body! I wanted to be able to not wear a shirt at the beach and feel good about my self. At this time she took my weight, 242 lbs, and my % of body fat (18%) and my measurements. Lyris informed me that I could have the body I wanted, but it was going to take commitment on my part, and hard work. I was ready and bound and determined to do whatever I needed to do. Diet (not dieting) but my actual way of eating and lifestyle of eating was going to be a big part of the commitment stage. Well, 12 weeks later, to the day, I went from 242 lbs and 18% body fat, to 189 lbs and 11% body fat. I had a six pack stomach again and no lower back pain whatsoever. People need to know that it can be done, but you need to commit that time and dedication to it, plain and simple. It’s not about starvation, quite opposite really. But so many times people start a program and say “it doesn’t work, it’s not for me” and they quit. Well, I am proof that her plan works, if you commit yourself to the time. I have never been happier in my life about the shape I have been able to get into. If you commit to the diet, the exercise, and the advice, you will get the results you are wanting. My “journey” did not end there. I was very content with being healthy and pain free, but I WAS interested in “bulking up” with good weight, as 189 was still “skinny” for a guy who is 6’3”. So Ryan and Lyris began working with me on more of a “bodybuilding” type of routine. Through training and diet, I was able to have a body that was competitive enough to take part in a body building competition. Two weeks out from the competition we moved to the city of Regina for a new career path that was opened to me. That was by far the biggest test of my commitment to the plan while going through the move. I was so lucky to have a loving wife and family, as well as close friends, to help me get through this time. Now, 2 years later, and going from 242 to a very comfortable 195, I can proudly say that I won the 2007 SABBA (Saskatchewan Amateur Bodybuilding Association) Championships in the Light Heavyweight category on March 30th 2007. And I owe it to Ryan and Lyris, hard work, and commitment. Bodybuilding is not for everyone by no means, but if you are even the least bit unhappy about your current figure or eating habits, I strongly recommend that you talk to Lyris and see about getting the shape YOU want. But you need to commit 100% and you WILL see the results. I can easily say that as I have seen my own. As for where this journey of mine is going lead, whether is be at a provincial level or not…you’ll just have to check back to find out!! In the mean time, get stared on your OWN personal journey to a better you! You’ll be so glad you did!
